Pope Leo XIV Recovering Well After Lung Surgery, Vatican Reports
Pope Leo XIV is recovering well from the 90 minutes surgery he underwent to remove the bottom section of his right lung following his diagnosis of lung adenocarcinoma. As per the Vatican and his doctors at Rome's Gemelli hospital, the 71-year-old pope is making good progress and does not have any complications. He has started walking again, eating normal food, and taking respiratory physiotherapy. While all the audiences with the pope are canceled until October 20 to help him recover, no further treatment such as chemotherapy is being considered at the moment.
